Check the digital clocks at the finish line. It is ESSENTIAL that all participants be properly registered and that you wear your race number on the FRONT of your shirt. A wrap-up of events will appear in the November 23, 2000 issue of New Times, including names of top three finishers in each age division in both 5K and 10K races. Results will also be published on the New Times web site: www.phoenixnewtimes.com/10K on November 23.  RACE PACKETS All registrants will receive a 7-color, 100% cotton New Times 10K T-shirt, Pasta On The Plaza ticket, bib number, race information booklet and parking information. Packets are received through the mail or picked up, depending on which method of registration you choose. Packets can be picked up at the Runner,s Den Nov. 6-10, at the Fitness Expo on Nov. 11, or on race day. PRE-RACE WARM-UP Aerobic stretching and warm-up exercises will be available Sunday at 7:30 a.m. on the plaza outside Bank One Ballpark. 
PACE CAR Volkswagen is proud to provide the official pace car for the New Times 10K. Volkswagen will lead the pack at the 10K and 5K runs with their 2001 Passat.
REGISTER TO WIN Visit the Volkswagen booth at either the Fitness Expo, Pasta Party or Bank One Ballpark on the day of the race to register to win a pair of men,s and women,s K2 inline skates courtesy of Ski Pro/Ski Chalet.  RUNNER SNACK AND SAMPLE BAGS Each registered race participant will receive a bag with snack and beverage samples as they finish their race, sponsored by Candle & Gift Factory Outlet, Inc. One bag per person. POST-RACE ACTIVITIES Once you,ve crossed the finish line, KEEP MOVING – the field needs to be clear to allow other runners to finish and to comply with fire regulations. While cooling off, head up to the stands and first level concourse for samplings from our vendors. Then find a seat in the stands and watch your friends and the invited elite athletes finish on the Sony jumbo screen and then head over to the Fitness Expo at the Phoenix Civic Plaza after 10:00 am.Visit the Wells Fargo booth to pose for your free commemorative race day photo.  10K SCHOOL CHALLENGE This is your chance as a parent, friend or family member of a Phoenix area elementary school child to support education and local schools. This year a portion of the proceeds from the New Times 10K will be awarded to three lucky Phoenix area elementary schools. Here,s how it works: REGISTER When you register for any of the events listed, you will see a space on your form where you can note which Phoenix area elementary school you are supporting. Remember, children 10 years old and younger can register FREE for the Albertsons • Michelina,s Kids, Dash. It,s a great cause, so encourage your family and friends to register for an event of their choice. WINNERS The three schools with the most participants will receive a cash award. The sum, which will be determined by registrations and sponsor donations, will be awarded within 30 days following the event. Winning schools will be announced in the November 23rd issue of New Times. |
